The workshop in late 19th century |
The firm, which has its origins since 1550, was
born from the union of the Bergamo organ tradition of
the Bossi (Vegezzi-Bossi) family with the one of the Vittino family from Centallo.
It is in this small town, in the Cuneo province, that
the firm has had its seat, in the original workshop of
its ancestors since 1824.
L'address
of the workshop is:
Via Marconi n° 48 - 12044 - Centallo ( CN )

The workshop |
|
The building is divided into two sections, one of
which is used exclusively for assembling and testing
new instruments.
The other section includes specific areas for the
carpentry, the assembly and the restoration of
historical instruments,
the storeroom and the pipe workshop, situated on the
upper floor.
It is worthy of notice that in this last room are kept,
and are still in use, the archives containing the
dimensions of all the
pipes made by Vittino and the Vegezzi-Bossi Families
through the years. Francesco I Vegezzi-Bossi , who was
respon-
sible for the construction and tuning of the pipes in
the Turin workshop towards the end of the last century,
habitually
designed and personally built the minute precise
equipment; we still keep many of these elements in
perfect working
order available for use togheter with the relative
designs of the executive project.
In particular the pipe workshop has kept intact all
its structure dating back to the last century,
including the crucible for
the melting of metal and the moulds for the pipes.

The production |
|
Drawing its origin from the past centuries, the
present activity of our workshop is naturally the
result of adaptation to
the type of market which has emerged during the years.
From a period notably dedicated to the construction of
new organs (1800 to early 1900), we hav passed to the
time
which includes restoration work on the site, to be
understood as a thorough recovery of the organ
historical heritage.
